Dr. J.H.P. Verburgt

Jacco Verburgt (PhD) studied philosophy and theology in Amsterdam, Leuven, Berlin, and Rome. Current focal points of research: Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, Kant, and Hegel. Current focal points of teaching: courses on history of philosophy, philosophical anthropology, contemporary schools of religious thought, history of the humanities, general and applied ethics, and philosophy of science (broadly conceived). Since 2006, his teaching and research appointments include various positions at higher education institutions (viz., VU University Amsterdam, University of Twente, Tilburg University, Amsterdam University College, Utrecht University, and the Center for Higher Education ’De Tiltenberg’). He also is an editorial board member of Critique (see https://virtualcritique.wordpress.com). His research at the Thomas Institute focuses on ’Initiation and Mystagogy in Thomas Aquinas’.
